Artists

With now over 130 people in our project having the artist role, the artists make up our biggest department by far. We have multiple different jobs for these artists like character design, storyboarding, animation and more. The artists bring commitment and passion to the project by making the scripts and idea's come to life.

After every shots gets completed they are looked over by our amazing team of revisionists with a keen eye for detail. They make sure every little detail from the designs are translated well into animation and everything flows well together.

Artist roles

There are a multitude of jobs our artists take in this musical, but these are the basics!

Storyboarding

Storyboarders are responsible for translating the written script into visuals. Their job focuses on composition and the flow of the shots. They also lay the foundation for line artists and background artists to work on top of.

Line art

Line artists take the storyboards and refine them. The artists are allowed to draw in their own style- but it is generally encouraged that they try to match the other styles as much as they comfortably can!

Coloring

Color artists take the line art and lay out the flat colors according to the set L'Musical color palettes.

Backgrounds

Background artists create the setting for the Musical. They dictate the mood of a scene using color, light, and shape language, as well as establishing a clean environment for the characters to interact in.

Shading

Lighting artists take the coloured line art, and the backgrounds and make the characters look seamless in their environments. This requires a good knowledge of shadow and light, and the artist must be comfortable in their drawing software with layer settings.

Social Media

The way social media works is also assignment-based. Whenever there is a post needed for our social media an announcement will go out to the artists and attendants. They will claim an assignment and start working on it.

Character and prop design

Since L'Manberg the Musical is based off of an already existing project and game a lot of inspiration is taken from those. Though we do like to keep things interesting and make unique designs for our project when it comes to character design as well as prop design. This makes our world we create fun and new to look at. Design artists will be in charge of designing items, characters, outfits, weapons, armor, animals and much more!

Revisionists

Revisionists have a very important role within our project. They look at all the art that comes in and see if they are consistent or if details are correct. We have revisionists for every stage in the process (line art, backgrounds, etc.). Only when a revisionist approves a frame/background can it go on to the next stage.
